SES Signs a Multi-year Contract Renewal with Towercom in Slovakia

SES informed about signing a multi-year contract renewal with Towercom in Slovakia, strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two companies. Based on the contract which comes into force on 1 January 2020, SES will provide one transponder on 23.5° E. The capacity will allow Towercom to aggregate content for the Slovak market.

 

Towercom has relied on SES for years to distribute their package of 11 TV channels, including 8 channels in High Definition, among them Slovak public TV and several privately-owned Slovak and Czech TV channels, as well as 33 radio channels.

 

“We are very happy and proud that our long-lasting relationship with Towercom in Slovakia has just been confirmed by this contract renewal,” says Martin Ornass-Kubacki, Vice President and Chief Regional Officer CEE, SES. “The current deal further boosts SES position in the competitive Slovak market with a strong DTH presence on 23.5° E orbital position.”

 

Towercom has been a SES customer in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for more than 10 years operating satellite capacity to Slovak broadcasters on 23.5° E orbital position. From this prime orbital slot Towercom is able to access a premium TV neighbourhood serving 37 million households across Europe.

SES leads the industry with its worldwide reach of over 355 million TV households (or 1 billion people) and distributes over 8,200 channels via satellite. With its SES Video business unit, SES manages over 525 channels and delivers more than 8,400 hours of online video streaming, including over 620 hours of premium sports and live events per day.
